The SCA, Fighting and Me, Page 15
March 29 2003.
Well, it's been quite a while since I last did
an update here, so here goes nothing.
Wednesday night was armour making night. Time flew. 1am we called it quits but by then
my new body armour was pretty much wearable. It's green leather, with copper rivits, that
hid the plastic plates on the inside. I wore it Thursday night for practice. It fits
great! I can move in it. It still needs tweeking. I came home with four good bruises.
One on each leg, one on each arm. The one on my left arm is an armour bit though.
Today I was so sore and stiff (not getting out to enough practices), that I didn't
make it out to the SCA event. Sigh. It was one geared to fighting too...
So now I've got new body armour and new leggs /knees. Next, shoulders. Then new
elbows. The ones I've currently got borrowed will do for now. Next is also taking my
Mom up on her offer to make me a new gambison. Something new for the war season...
Natural fibers would be nice too. As wearing the leather and plastic is warm enough.
Looking forward to making practices on a regular basis.
